Cindy Muro (Class of 2017)

Cindy Muro graduated from UC Law San Francisco with a law degree in 2020 and is a practicing attorney. ¡Muchas felicidades! Ms. Muro writes:

Institutions of higher education can be isolating, but I found a safe space in my CCS classes. It was the first time my life experiences felt validated. I learned words and theories to help me unpack my own experiences and the experiences of my community. My advocacy skills developed in your classroom...

In law school, my CCS major helped me reframe class discussions when it was my turn to speak. I thought critically about the law and its effect on marginalized communities. I called professors out when they discounted the realities of many people by focusing solely on the words of the text. CCS helped me recognize so many systemic issues within the legal system and now, I will be on the forefront, fighting against those issues.
