Part-Time Lecturers

Continuous Recruitment (2023-2024)

The Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies invites applications for our part-time lecturer pool. We accept applications for all areas of our curriculum. Please consult the General Catalog for a list of department courses. Applicants will remain in the pool for 18 months.

We specifically seek applicants with an academic specialization focused on the U.S.-Mexico border, including transnational/transborder migration, film studies, theater arts, and history. Application deadline: Until positions are filled.

We accept applications from individuals trained in a variety of fields, and especially seek candidates with a strong background in Chicana/o/x Studies. Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D., Ed.D., or M.F.A.

If interested, submit a letter of application indicating which course you are applying to teach, your professional qualifications to teach it, a full curriculum vitae, and a writing sample. Please send these materials to the department chair, Dr. María Ibarra, at [email protected]. The completed application package will be reviewed by a department committee and applicants will be contacted by email when appropriate.

As part of its commitment to a safe and equitable “One SDSU” community, SDSU requires that individuals seeking faculty employment provide at the time of application authorization to conduct background checks if they become a finalist for the position; applications without this authorization will be considered incomplete and not considered.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.

The person holding this position is considered a “mandated reporter” under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
